The Sound of Music is one of the world's best loved musicals, featuring memorable songs such as 'My Favourite Things' and 'Do Re Mi', an endearing storyline that still enthralls people decades later, as well as being set in the beautiful Austrian landscape.

This musical follows the story of Maria, a young, free spirited postulant who goes to live with the Von Trapp family and help look after the children.

Maria and the children quickly form a close bond through their love of music and singing and she is able to advise the eldest child, Liesl on matters of the heart as she considers her feelings for local delivery boy, Rolf. Maria eventually develops her own relationship with their father, Captain Von Trapp, and after a few shaky moments where at one point she briefly returns to Nonnberg Abbey, the Captain and Maria are finally married in a wonderful ceremony.

The family come together in song and their talents are soon noticed by the Captain's music agent friend, Max, who is putting on a concert for the Nazi Party. The Von Trapp family must deal with their conflicting emotions as their love for Austria and loyalty is questioned as the Nazi Party's Anschluss approaches and they are required to perform at the concert. Seperation from each other is even threatened as the Captain is offered a commission in the German Navy after some close calls with the Nazi Party the show finally culminates with the family fleeing across the mountains towards Switzerland.
