A popular musical set in Oklahoma at the turn of the 20th century 'Oklahoma!' looks at the blossoming romances between cowboy Curly and farm girl Laurey as well as their friends, cowboy Will and his sweetheart Ado Annie, whom he hopes to marry.

However there is a darker side as this musical as the two cowboys are forced to compete with love rivals for the affection of their sweethearts. Creepy farmhand Jud is also vying for Laurey's affections with a borderline obsession, while Ado Annie is caught with Persian peddler Ali Hakim by her father, who insists that Hakim marry her.

With the upcoming box social dance the young men compete for the girls affections and bid to win their lunch baskets however the lighthearted rivalry soon descends into something much more sinister as Jud and Curly confront each other and Jud vows to make Laurey his.

After the culmination of Jud's violent outburst at the end of the show the two couples finally overcome their pride and get their happy ending together with Curly and Laurey riding off into the sunset in 'The Surrey With The Fringe On Top' that he had promised her at the start of the show.
